Commercially, formaldehyde is marked chiefly in the form of aqueous solutions containing 37-52 percent by weight dissolved formaldehyde. Higher concentration of formalin contains sufficient methanol to prevent precipitation of polymer under ordinary conditions of transportation and storage.
